June

I turned 30. We celebrated our 6th Wedding Anniversary. We went swimming a lot. Pictures:
Birthday. Maybe now that I'm 30 people will stop treating me like I'm 18. At least that's what I hope.
Anniversary: I didn't enjoy my salted carmel brownie from my birthday so we made raspberry cream cupcakes for our anniversary.

Brek LOVES swimming. Ever since the pool closed last August, he has been asking if it is "next summer yet?" The first day the pool opened, when Brek woke up from his nap Joe came out in his swimming trunks. Brek just looked. We asked him what it meant. And he seriously couldn't get all of his clothes off fast enough before actually using words and telling us we could go swimming.

On this day in particular, he though my strappy heals were a fitting ensemble with the swim trunks. He sure has his own fashion sense.

Lion King

Back in the spring we bough tickets to see ...
the Lion King.
I told Joe back before we got married that I wanted to see this show. (The other show on my list is Wicked.)

Anyway, last night was the night. We decided that because of finances it would be both of our birthdays and our anniversary gift. It was totally worth it!We got all dressed up. I can't even tell you the last time I did my hair and wore makeup. My good friend Emily (who watched the little guy for us) had never seen me like this before, and we've known each other for a year now.

We thought we were short on time, so we did fast food for dinner. Turns out we could have taken our time. Oh well, at least the food was good.
We actually knew the show was coming to Salt Lake long before it was announced. One of Joe's trombone friends Lou was auditioning for the part in the pit, and the base bone also needed to double on some tuba. So he had Joe help give him some lessons. We were sworn to secrecy. Lou did a phenomenal job on the tuba! We could hear him really well, even with our seats high up in the balcony. We got to chat with him afterwards too.
I took some pictures of the little book and program we were given. They aren't the greatest, but I wanted to preserve the memory.
We loved the feel of the African culture, and like everyone says who has ever seen it, the costumes were amazing!
Here the lionesses are going hunting. It was a cool dance.
Pumba and Timone were great. This is where most of the tuba part took place.
I loved the sun.

Here we are at the theater.

It was an awesome "birthday," and Joe, I love you forever honey! So glad I married you and have you to be my best friend! I couldn't ask for a better sweetheart, husband, partner, and daddy to our little boy. I sure feel lucky every day to have you in my life.

2 years down, and forever to go!

25 - 8 - 1

There have been several milestones and special events this past week.

First, I had my 25th birthday.
I decided I didn't want to have a social event this year, so Joe took me out on a date.
First we had dinner at Panda Express so I could have Orange Chicken, one of my favorite foods.
Then we went and saw the movie Up, in 3-D. It was super cute! Some of our favorite lines to quote are the dead squirrel joke, and "I hid under your porch because I love you!"
And then we went out for pie at Village Inn. Generally, I'm more of a cake sort of girl, but Joe and I have gotten into the show Pushing Daisies. We are really sad the show won't be continuing. But anyway, there's always such yummy looking pies on the show, that Joe and I had both been wanting to go out for pie for quite some time.
It was a nice night out on the town with my sweetheart.

Also last week, 2 of mine and Joe's nieces, Rose and Nora, turned 8 and decided to be baptized as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was a very special day. I love these girls so much! They are fun to be with and I enjoy the time I have to spend with them. I'm so proud of their good choices and I hope they remember how much they are loved.

And finally, Joe and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary.
We actually didn't officially celebrate it on the actual day, tho Joe did make me rasperry crepes for breakfast in bed. But for our celebration we went to the Cheesecake factory. So good!!! I ate too much, of course.

Sometimes it is hard to believe that this much time has gone by. I wouldn't trade the man I married for anyone else in the world. I'm truly grateful to have him as my eternal companion. He treats me so much better than I deserve, and I love having him by my side. This year together has been wonderful! Not everything has been a walk in the park; we have definitely had our challenges and ups and downs. I'm so grateful for all that Joe does to support me and take care of me.
I love that he can make me laugh. I'm grateful for his strength and patience.
There is definitely a whole lot more to look forward to in our future.

I love being Mrs. Joe Jensen!
